January has been turned into Tolkien Appreciation Month over on sj’s blog. A bunch of awesome contributors have come together and shared their love for Middle Earth and it’s been really special for those of us who have the love for old J.R.R. If you fancy sharing in the love then check out the collection of posts (including one I wrote) and share your own feelings.
Over on Insatiable Booksluts we’ve got some awesome book recommendations for you if that’s something you’re looking for. We’ve also just finished our #SlutsintheAttic readalong which was tremendous fun. We’ve got four excellent posts for you over there which led to some fun discussions and really got us all in the mood to watch the film adaption that came out recently. I guarantee you we can convince you to read the book after you check out our posts. We’ve also got some book reviews and music recommendations and general musings (oh my!).
My lovely buddy Anissa has been writing some excellent ragey blog post this month including one about the lack of love for Amanda Abbington (and that’s putting it lightly), and my personal favourite: a post about why you need to stop hating on Honey Boo Boo, fo realz. Anissa is also being a very inspirational sonofabitch and raising money for Women’s Aid. If she raises £500 she is going to shave her head cuz she’s that hardcore. If that is a cause you would like to support please donate! I’ve already told her I’m pledging £50 if I get to be the one holding the razor.
For those of you still obsessing over Disney’s Frozen (which, at last count, was everybody), I have to steer you towards this medley of the songs. Three of the members of Pentatonix do some covers, having a laugh, and it’s lovely. By the way, if you don’t know who Pentatonix are, watch this. Still want more Frozen? Buzzfeed released a video of Let it Go in 25 languages, and it is epic.
If you want to kill some time and fancy a bit of YouTube, here’s some random links to my favourite content this month. Just because I love you.
– charlieissocoollike’s miscellaneous zombie noises.
– Jack and Dean sum up the best and the worst bits of 2013
– Sherlock meets the Doctor fan vid that’s so good I’m still watching it
– Someone mixed Gangnam Style with Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory and it’s marvellous
– I found an old clip of Jack Whitehall ripping the piss out of Jeremy Kyle
– Mark Grist rap battle. Just because.
– The Fault in Our Stars official trailer (2m29s of INTENSE FEELINGS)
Enjoy. And you’re welcome.
